Theaus CHâ‚„ enables the permanent elimination of methane emissions from marginal and inactive oil and gas wells through verified carbon mechanisms. Our process is designed to deliver physical permanence, measured outcomes, and audit-grade assurance.

Five Steps to Investment‑Grade Methane Abatement

1. Identify
We identify marginal and inactive wells with clear ownership, defined carbon rights, and no enforceable abandonment order currently in place.
Theaus CHâ‚„ assesses each project individually based on well status, regulatory conditions, and measurement and verification requirements. Commercial alignment is discussed directly with operators once a project has been screened and confirmed as eligible, ensuring clarity, credibility, and a smooth path through verification.

2. Measure
Baseline methane emissions are quantified using field-based measurement systems operated under ISO-aligned protocols. Quantification emphasizes conservatism, traceability, and real-world data rather than modeled assumptions.

3. Eliminate
Methane emissions are permanently eliminated through licensed plug-and-abandonment operations performed in accordance with jurisdictional regulatory standards. Engineered cement isolation and secure surface closure physically eliminate methane migration pathways, delivering durable, long-term emissions prevention with negligible reversal risk.

4. Verify
Independent, accredited third-party Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs) review project documentation and confirm measured methane reductions in accordance with ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3 principles.

5. Monetize
Independently verified, serialized methane-abatement credits are issued through internationally recognized, ICROA-aligned registries. The validated climate value created through permanent abandonment underwrites execution and accelerates liability retirement, with bespoke commercial structures designed for each operator partnership.
